POSITION:

Assistant Professor of Weed Science,Tenure Track

STARTING DATE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The functions of this position are 60% research and 40% teaching. The teaching responsibilities are an undergraduate level weed science course taught every year, an upper division or graduate level course taught in alternate years, participation/contribution to college-wide offerings in pest management, and advising of undergraduate and graduate students. The appointee is also expected to develop an innovative research program that connects fundamental knowledge of weeds to their control and to the development of integrated weed management systems. Potential areas of research include weed biology/ecology, biochemistry/physiology of herbicide metabolism, and mode of action and resistance of herbicides. Collaborations with weed scientists working with agronomic and horticultural crops and other faculty in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences are expected.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PhD in weed science or related field, with knowledge/experience of crop
production systems. A commitment to undergraduate teaching and excellent teaching
skills.
