fast
growing
tree

m.
The
stem
is
straight
and
the
tree
produces
a
mass
of
large,
white
flowers.
Some
trees
produce
pink
or
red
flowers
(variety
difference?).
Tolerates
flooding
and
nodulates
profusely. |

Native
to
Asia
and
S.E.
Asia
but
is
now
widely
distributed
in
the
humid
tropics. |

Sea

Rainfall:

2,500
mm.
In
semi
arid
locations,
it
thrives
in
riverine
habitats
and
irrigated
valleys.
Soils:
Non-acid
soils
(pH>6).
Flooding
removes
the
soil
acidity
constraint
as
pH
increases
to
~7
within
a
few
weeks
of
flooding.
The
species
shows
good
adaptability
to
Vertisols
('black
cotton
soils').
Ecozone:
Sub-humid
to
humid
locations.
