Biogeochemistry

land
use
change
in
the
Brazilian
Amazon:
degradation
and
rehabilitation.

In
my
research,
I
would
like
to
investigate
the
effects
of
soil
water
repellency
resulting
from
forest
conversion
and
the
use
of
fire
in
pasture
management
and
smallholder
agriculture
on
water
and
nutrient
relationships
in
agroecosystems.
I
hope
to
use
this
information
to
explore
possibilities
for
low
cost,
plant
based
methods
for
reversing
soil
water
repellency
as
a
component
of
rehabilitation
strategies
for
degraded
areas.
