CSS 642 - Plant Mineral Nutrition (also BIOPL 642)

A detailed study of the processes by which plants acquire and utilize mineral nutrients from
the soil. Topics will include the uptake, translocation and compartmentation of mineral elements;
root-soil interactions; metabolism of mineral elements; the involvement of mineral nutrients
in various physiological processes; and nutrition of plants adapted to extreme environmental
stresses (e.g. acid soils). Specific mineral elements will be emphasized to illustrate the above
topics.
