Analysis of the ecological processes operating in agricultural systems, with an emphasis on the
interactions between organisms. Topics include nutrient dynamics in agroecosystems, plant
competition and facilitation, intercropping, the ecology of species invasions, mutualism in
agroecosystems, plant-herbivore relations, plant-pathogen interactions, biological pest control
and evolutionary processes in agriculture. Case studies from both the tropics and the temperate
zone are used to illustrate important concepts.
